Institution of Power Engineers (IPowerE) (Formerly IDGTE)

About the Institution of Power Engineers

The Institution of Power Engineers (IPowerE) is the leading specialist Professional Engineering Institution serving the interests of power engineers globally.  Here, “power” is used in its widest sense to include not only electrical generation but also other power and prime-mover technologies including, mechanical drive, marine propulsion, rail traction, hybrid drive systems and energy networks.  Key areas of work and interest include security of electricity supply networks, fast response power plant as a back-up to intermittent renewable generation, energy storage technologies, hybrid power systems and microgrids as well as the development of reciprocating engines and gas turbines to meet these needs and to operate on renewable fuel sources.  IPowerE exists to serve the interests of members and promote the sharing of knowledge in such technologies with special emphasis on users.  IPowerE works closely with other institutions and professional bodies including Engineering Council to promote the engineering profession and to encourage young people to consider a career in engineering.

EngTech, IEng and CEng Registration

IPowerE offers internationally recognised Engineering Council professional registration to our members at EngTech, IEng and CEng levels.
