As part of an initiative by the IMechE Young Member Panel India and Chain Events India, the Student Development Program on Recent Trends in Engineering and Technology was organized in collaboration with LIET Student Chapter India and IIESTS Chapter India. Held virtually from November 4th to 9th, 2024, the program aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by equipping students with knowledge of emerging technologies. The event featured expert sessions on cutting-edge topics, fostering innovation and skill development among participants. This initiative reflected a commitment to empowering future engineers and promoting technological advancement.
The event featured six eminent speakers from diverse fields who delivered expert sessions on cutting-edge topics:
- Dr. Nurul Abedin: Spoke on Artificial Intelligence, highlighting its transformative potential in modern industries and its role in reshaping the future. He explored AI’s applications in automation, healthcare, and engineering, encouraging students to harness its possibilities. His session delved into how AI can solve real-world problems and optimize industrial processes.
- Dhaumil Parmar: Inspired students with a session titled “A Journey from Engineering to Entrepreneurship”, sharing practical tips and experiences for aspiring entrepreneurs. He emphasized the importance of resilience, innovation, and adaptability in building startups. The session also covered strategies for scaling businesses and making impactful contributions to society.
- Aditya Dave: Discussed Sustainable Engineering Through IoT, emphasizing the role of IoT in creating eco-friendly engineering solutions. He showcased real-world examples of IoT-based systems for smart cities and energy conservation. The session stressed the need for engineers to focus on sustainability in their designs.
- Ialit Singh Rao: Delivered insights on Machine Learning in Recent Engineering, showcasing its applications in solving complex industrial challenges. He explained the importance of data-driven decision-making and predictive analytics in engineering. His session also explored machine learning’s potential in automation and enhancing efficiency.
- Patricia Ashman: Provided an engaging talk on Robotics, exploring the advancements and future possibilities in this ever-evolving field. She discussed the integration of robotics in manufacturing, healthcare, and space exploration. The session inspired students to think creatively about solving problems through robotic systems.
- Md. Ameen Shaikh: Spoke on Drone Design, shedding light on the intricacies of creating cutting-edge drone technology and its diverse applications. He explained the mechanics of drone engineering and their impact on industries like agriculture, logistics, and defense. The session also focused on innovation in UAV technology.
The program received an overwhelming response, with 86 registrations and an audience of over 200 participants, who actively engaged with the speakers and discussions. The event served as a valuable platform for students to gain knowledge, explore career opportunities, and interact with industry experts.
