Want to help inspire professional young engineers?
We’re looking for speakers from a wide range of backgrounds and subject areas that are passionate about telling stories and inspiring people.
The audience will consist mostly of engineers, from many different disciplines, aged from roughly high school age to 10 years following professional registration (the definition of a young member/ professional given by the engineering institutions). This could include students, apprentices, graduates, and young professionals.
Due to the breadth of the audience, we place less importance on the technical content of the talk, and more emphasis on its inspiration nature, or the storytelling ability of the presenter.
As well as talks with a technical flavour, we’d also love to learn about quality, project management, innovation, safety, successes, failures, team building or ethics. Alternatively, you might be looking for a technical solution to a problem, or you might be looking to recruit technically minded volunteers. If you have something you think would be of interest or benefit to young engineers, we want to hear from you.
If you need some inspiration yourself, take a look at our collection of talks for ideas on their format, and the topics we’ve had in the past.
Our events consist of multiple talks by speakers representing an engineering institution, or an organisation that might be of benefit to young engineers. However the speaker doesn’t necessarily have to be a member of the organisation being represented.
The format of each talk is normally as follows:
30 minutes broken into
- 20 – 25 minutes on the selected topic
- 5 – 10 minutes on the organisation being represented. This is an opportunity to sell the organisation to the delegates, and doesn’t necessarily have to be delivered by the same speaker as the 20 – 25 minute segment.
